In the strength of His might

  Laura Ingle ·

Key scripture – “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”
(Ephesians 6:10-11).

Pastor, Tony Evans, says that when Paul established the church at Ephesus, he wanted the believers to understand they had the power to withstand the attacks of the enemy, Satan. He wanted them to know that they could stand firm in their faith and refuse to yield to sin and thoughts of defeat. They had been given spiritual weapons more powerful and effective than the enemy’s.

But first they needed to understand they were not strong enough on their own to resist Satan’s temptations and tactics. God’s power and strength empowered them to rebuke the wiles of the devil. Paul explained to the Ephesians that they needed to use weapons of spiritual warfare on a daily basis. God protected them and He protects us, and one way He does this is through believers putting on the full armor of God on a daily basis.

As an overcomer, you need to always keep this truth in mind: You are not fighting for victory, you are fighting from a position of victory. Christ has secured the victory for you, and He offers you this victory through the armor of God. The victory is yours when you are well-dressed for warfare.

“Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints.”
(Ephesians 6:14-18).

Every morning before you go out in to the world, stop and pray and picture yourself putting on each piece of the armor of God, so that you can stand strong against the attacks of the enemy.

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, I do not want to face any day without the body armor of Christ on, therefore, I am starting this day and every day by putting on the full armor. When I do this, I am dressed for success and victory over Satan. I put on the belt of truth, which is the Word of God. I will live obedient to Your Word, which is the absolute truth, and do what it says and not what the world thinks. I then put on the breastplate of righteousness. Lead me in paths of righteousness so that I walk upright and blameless. I can do this by, trusting in The Lord with all my heart, and not leaning on my own understanding, acknowledging You in all my ways, and You will make straight my paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6). Then I will put on the shoes of the gospel of peace, which is my new life in Christ. I am reconciled to God because of Jesus’ sacrifice for my sins. I am covered by His Righteousness. I stand firm on Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, who is my Lord and Savior, my Rock. I will pick up the shield of faith, which will protect me from all the fiery arrows of Satan like; depression, despair, defeat, discouragement, shame, guilt, regret and lies. I will also carry with me the Sword of The Word of God, I have planted Your Word in my heart to keep me from sinning. “Your Word, is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:105). Your Word lights the way for me. Last but not least, I will put on the helmet of Salvation, so that my thoughts and my mind are protected, and I always remember that this is not my permanent home, I am just a sojourner in this world, because I will live with You for eternity. Father, I belong to You, and I operate under the strength, power, and victory of Jesus. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
