Interrupted Plans
Acts 9:3
And as he journeyed, be came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:
Some of you have had your plans interrupted by God. Even though you thought you had everything in order and in place. You had laid out your plans and made decisions what to do next. And lo and behold, the Lord interrupted. He does have a right to detour our lives, since he is the controller of our lives. I’ve seen people that set out to take vacations and the Lord said, “I don’t want you to take it yet.” So he interrupts your vacation. Other people set out to make good careers and they set out to do one thing, but God says, “I don’t want you to do that.” So he interrupts the plans. He alters your schedule and sends you in another direction. He can interrupt anytime he gets ready because many times we don’t know who we are or where we’re going. We don’t know what we’re going to do.
The Apostle Paul had an interruption of his plans. He had heard that there was a church in Damascus calling on the name of the Lord. Saul, who became Paul, had plans to slaughter the disciples of Christ. He went to the high priest and received letters of permission to go to the synagogues in Damascus and find those who were the disciples of Jesus so he could arrest them and bring them to Jerusalem. When he and a group of like-minded men were on the Damascus road, there shone a light from heaven brighter than the noonday sun. Acts 9:4, And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? Paul was shaken and began to tremble when he realized Jesus was truly the Lord. Jesus interrupted Saul’s plans and even blinded him until a disciple prayed for him. Saul became Paul and changed the direction of his life. God interrupts the plans of man.
