Is It Doubtful?
Key scripture – “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.” (2 Peter 1:3-4).
When it comes to the question of whether you should do something or n…ot, if it’s doubtful, then don’t do it. Unfortunately, most of us don’t give God the benefit of the doubt. We just go ahead and do it, and give in to our sinful desires even if we have doubts.
Are you in doubt about something today? If you have even the smallest doubt in your heart that it might be sin or lead to sin, be strong and choose to say “No.” Jesus will be your peace. Remember, When in Doubt, trust The Lord.
We need to remember that as Christians there is another force at work in us, that is more subtle and penetrating than the most eloquent words of man, and more powerful than the corruption of the world, and that is the power of the Holy Spirit. So instead of trying to resist sin in your strength seek His divine, guidance, and counsel and He will move over the hearts of those that listen to His words.
If we will only let the Spirit of God work unhindered in our hearts and souls, He will effect an inward division. Our tastes and desires, our hopes and aims, will become different, and we shall be aware of a growing dissimilarity between ourselves and the world. We will start making decisions that are in line with the Word of God, and that are not based on what the world says or other people’s opinions but what God says.
Are you ready to turn your desires over to the Holy Spirit so that you choose to do what is right not sin?
Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, I have found that as I become closer to You and I read and meditate on Your Word, the things of this world lose their appeal, and sin is no longer enticing. As I delight in You and Your Word, the desires of my heart start to line up with Your purpose for me, which is to glorify You in each area of my life, especially in my words, thoughts, and actions. Father, I want the Holy Spirit to move over my heart. I want You to reveal to me any iniquity in my heart, so that I can confess it and turn from it, and fill those areas of my heart with Your Word. If I am in doubt about anything, I choose righteousness over sin. No matter what it cost me, I choose to do what is right and follow Your Word, because if I do that, it may be hard for a while, but it will all work out for good. If I choose sin, then I know that I have chosen suffering over righteousness. In the Name of Jesus, who gives me the power to walk in obedience to Your Word, I pray, Amen.
