It’s hard for people to admit they need God;

Key scripture -“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.” (Isaiah 40: 28-29).

It’s hard for people to admit they need God; what’s even harder is to live like we need Him. When we rely on money, family, talent, or hard work to try to fix our problems, we run around thinking that we don’t need God. But we do need Him because eventually we will face problems that our money, family, talent and hard work cannot fix.

Isaiah 40:28-29 gives us a moving description of God’s awesome unchanging nature and shows us that God is not at all like us.

1. God is everlasting, whereas compared to eternity we have short life spans. We are described in James as a mist that appears for a little while then it vanishes. “Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” (James 4:14).

2. God never gets tired, whereas we get exhausted and we need sleep. “He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” (Psalm 121:3-4).

3. God never feels overwhelmed, whereas we get overwhelmed by all of the demands on our life. “Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.” (Jeremiah 32:17).

4. God’s understanding is unsearchable, while we are transparent and predictable. “With God are wisdom and might; he has counsel and understanding.” (Job 12:13).

When our batteries run low, God always delivers because He gives power to the faint and to him who has no might He increases strength. We need to surrender our pride and stop depending on our abilities and our strength. We need to stop pretending that we can manage everything on our own and stop trying to hold our life together with our own energy.

When you face problems today, turn to God first, and wait on His timing. Don’t try to manipulate or force your own agenda instead wait on His agenda in the strength and power that He gives you.

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains- where does my help come from? My help comes from The Lord, the maker of Heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip – He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed he who watches over Israel will neither slumber or sleep.” (Psalm 121: 1-4).

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, You are God and You are worthy of my trust and obedience. I will find rest nowhere but in Your Holy Will, a Will that is unspeakably beyond my largest notions of what You are up to. I will obey You, I will not doubt or question You. It is so comforting to me that You are never faint nor do You grow weary. I have strength and power because of You. The same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives in me. “And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.” (1 Corinthians 6:14). You are the Most High, pour Your Spirit on me and overshadow me. I proclaim, “Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.” (Psalm 147:5). In the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen.
