Jesus Passed Through
Mark 10:46
And as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.
Here, Jesus is between Judea and Jerusalem in a little place called Jericho. Jericho was the place where Joshua and his army marched around until the seventh day when God made all the walls come tumbling down. Jericho is the place where Zaccheus climbed up a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus. Jericho had a wonderfully sweet fragrance from the beautiful flowers grown there. Honey was in abundance. Jericho was in a setting surrounded by beauty and water. It was a great rich place to be. Jesus decides now to go through Jericho on his way to Calvary.
Thank God Jesus came through. I’m glad Jesus came through Memphis. If he had not been through this area, I don’t know where I would be. But thank God, He came through town. Whichever town He stops in or goes through, He makes a difference. Are you glad he came through your town? Whenever He shows up, He changes things in the town. We must invite Him often.
Jesus was yearning to perform another miracle. I think Jesus is cruising around the church today yearning to perform another miracle. He majors in working miracles. Some think that the miracles are over, not so. As long as Jesus lives, there will be miracles. He is a miracle worker. Jesus is still healing sick bodies. He is still baffling the minds of doctors that say you can not be cured but you are. Somebody tried to describe a miracle. I heard a country preacher give me the best definition I’ve ever had. He said a miracle is something that can not happen, but it did. That’s good enough for me. It wasn’t supposed to happen, but it happened. Some of you have experienced a miracle. You have been in a situation when others had thumbs down for you, but thank God Jesus had thumbs up.
