Joy Comes in the Morning

Key scripture – “I will exalt you Lord, for you rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me. O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health. You brought me up from the grave, O Lord. You kept me from falling into the pit of death. Sing to The Lord all you godly ones! Praise his holy name. For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.” (Psalm 30:1-5)

In this Psalm, David had sunk to near death, but God reached down, lifted him up, and gave him back his life. So David contrasts the momentary afflictions of life with God’s lasting favor when he says, “weeping may last through the night but joy comes with the morning.”

No matter how bad your problems may be they will come to an end and things will get back to normal. God never tests us beyond our level of endurance. He says, “This far and no more”. God is faithful to see us through hardships, and after we have endured, He will bless us and take care of us.

The night times of our life may seem dismal and black, but there is always a glorious morning on the rise. God will give you beauty for ashes and joy for weeping.

“To proclaim the year of The Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God to comfort all who mourn, and provide those who grieve in Zion – to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of The Lord for the display of His splendor.”
(Isaiah 61:2).

No problem (trial) lasts forever and God always provides a way out. “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so you can endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

The temptation that 1 Corinthians is referring to is the trials that we go through. Instead of focusing on your circumstances and saying to yourself, “How will I get through this? This is going to destroy me.” Stop thinking like that and instead remember how many times in the past you made it through to the other side of a trial, and be confident in knowing that you will make it again through this problem because Jesus is with you, He is strengthening you, He will never ever forsake or abandon you, and He always provides a way out.

“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6).

“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13).

On the other side of all your trials you will see how God turned those experiences into good for your life and how He used them to change you and make you more like Jesus. God is with you and He will get you through it. No matter what you are going through God Loves You and you need to remember “This too shall pass”.

“The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.” (Psalm 9:9).

Pray this – My Precious Heavenly Father, I may not understand how everything will work out, but I trust you. I do not see a way, but I know you will make away. I have faith at this very moment that you are touching hearts, opening doors, and lining up the right breaks and opportunities. Things look dark and blank right now, but I have faith that my dawn is coming. I thank You that You love me enough to want to change me to make me holy like You are Holy. Show me what You want to change in me through this trial and give me the strength and wisdom to change. I know at the end of this trial I will have beauty for ashes and joy for weeping and a deeper faith and trust in You. Father, “You are my refuge and my shield; your word is my source of hope.” (Psalm 119:114). You will never forsake me or abandon me. You are my towering rock of safety, a safe refuge where my enemies cannot reach me. I will live forever beneath the shelter of Your wings. “From the ends of the earth, I cry to you for help when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the towering rock of safety, for you are my safe refuge, a fortress where my enemies cannot reach me. Let me live forever in your sanctuary, safe beneath the shelter of your wings!” (Psalm 61:2-4). Jesus, I take Your hand and let You lead me. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
