Key scripture- “LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance” (Psalm 16:5-6).
Did you know that if you understand God’s view of receiving you do not have to worry about your competitors or your enemies in your work place?
The Scripture tells us that we are to bless others which includes our competitors and our enemies. I know this is against everything that the world tells you to do, but the reason we can do this is because our security and provision is not based on posturing ourselves against another, but fulfilling what God has called us to do.
When we take a proactive step to bless another, we actually apply a Kingdom principle that results in greater blessing to others, the Kingdom of God, and even to ourselves. Psalm 34 says, “If you love life and want to live a good, long time, take care with the things you say. Don’t lie or spread gossip or talk about improper things. Walk away from the evil things of the world, and always seek peace and pursue it.” (Psalm 34:12-14, The Voice).
Anyone who cannot bless others, especially their competitors and enemies is insecure and doubtful of God’s ability to provide for them in their work, because God tells us to, “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:14,17, 20-21).
God has already allocated His portion for you before the foundation of the world, and you can never out-give God or get in your own strength what He has portioned for you. As you do your work unto Him, God allows you to receive the fruit of your work. “If you fully obey the LORD your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. . . The LORD will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. The LORD will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The LORD your God will bless you in the land he is giving you” (Deuteronomy 28:1-8).
Life is to be lived vertically before the Lord, not horizontally. When we worry about the activities of others, we acknowledge our lack of faith in the One who called us. “The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord” (Proverbs 16:33).
Even though all this goes against what you have been told, I can tell you from first hand experience it works. I used to strive and fret trying to get ahead, and I made sure others knew anytime my competitors did something that put them in a bad light, but not anymore. About eight years ago, I started praying for my enemies and for God to bless them, I quit putting my competitors in a bad light, I gave my work life to the Lord and told Him it was His and I would do what He wants, and I am amazed at how the Lord has blessed my work and taken care of me. I am free of all of that fretting, striving, worrying, and gossiping. Now I live with this in mind, “If God opens a door, no one can close it, and if He closes it, no one can open it. Man’s rejection is God’s protection.” Try it, it is a great way to live.
Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, because of You I have peace in my work. Because of You I have learned that it is better to bless my enemies than to talk about them or hate them. Because of You I am happy when my competitors do well, because I know that You, Yahweh Jireh, are my provider and not anyone else. I know that You see every situation beforehand and You are able to provide for all my needs. Because of You I can say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” (Lamentations 3:24). Because of You, I no longer panic when I am rejected by people, because I know that that is Your protection over me. Because of You, I know that my daily bread will always be taken care of. Because of You, Yahweh Nissi, You are my Banner and You are over me. I am not a victim but a warrior, I am always victorious, and I am not just a conqueror but MORE than a conqueror. Lord, You are my portion, and I promise to obey your words. I seek Your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to Your promise. I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes. I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands. You are my refuge, and my portion in the land of the living. Psalm 119:57-60; 142:5). In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
