Lions On Every Side

Lions On Every Side

Psalm 57:4

My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

My soul is among lions. My soul is hanging out with lions. In other words, everywhere I look I’ve got enemies. I have to step over enemies and go around enemies. My enemies look just like lions. What’s so bad about a lion? Well the strongest part of a lion is his jaws. He is bad with his mouth. Also a lion is sneaky. He favors where he is. He can lay down on the ground and you can walk right up on him, because he looks just like the grass. You can’t be sure he’s on the ground. Before you know anything, he’s right up on you. It’s not So bad if you’ve just got one or maybe two in a lifetime, but David said, “I am surrounded. Every where I look, there is a lion.”

Many of us do not know how blessed we really are. If you were born in a Christian family, thank God for that because you’ve been safeguarded from a lot of stuff You grew up praying. You grew up coming to church school. You grew up reading the word of God teaching you how to avoid your enemies. But can you imagine being born in a Jehovah witness home? They will come to your door with a lie and many will believe. We have the truth and won’t tell anyone, but they will spread a lie all over town. If the son or daughter gets sick, they can’t give them their own blood. They try so hard to get you to follow them and yet they say only 144, 000 are going to heaven and the last count I heard they had over three million. What’s the need of adding some more to the ship when it’s already over loaded.

If you came up in a family that didn’t know the Lord, you grew up among lions. If you send your children off to school where God’s word can’t be mentioned, you are putting them right in the midst of lions whose teeth are like swords and tongues are like arrows. Shelter us O Lord.
