News and truth aren’t always the same?
Laura Ingle Key scripture – “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'” (John 14:6 NIV)
Do you know that news and truth aren’t always one and the same?
I suspect many of us have things in our life that feel impossible. Maybe you just got some bad news regarding your finances, family, job, or health, if so, what you need to remember is that what you have received is news, it is not truth.
You have probably always thought of news and truth as one and the same. But what you have access to is a truth that transcends news, because what is impossible with man’s limitations is always possible for a limitless God. “For nothing will be impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37).
We all need to stop and look at the word “impossible” a little differently today, because the word impossible changes completely if we stick a little apostrophe between the first two letters. Then it becomes “I’m-Possible”. God is the great I AM, therefore, He is your possibility for hope and healing no matter what situation you face or how bad it looks. Remember, what you received is only news, it is not the truth, because that comes only from the Word of God. With God on your side, I’m-Possible is the way to look at anything that feels quite impossible.
So when you receive news of an impossible financial situation. News of an impossible job situation. News of an impossible kid situation. News of an impossible friend situation. News of an impossible medical situation. News of an impossible family situation.
You need to remember – what you received is news.
But this is Truth:
I AM THE WAY AND THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
I AM FOREVER FAITHFUL. “He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them-He remains faithful forever.” (Psalm 146:6).
I AM WITH YOU. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
I AM HOLDING YOU. “Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.” (Psalm 73:23)
I AM YOUR HIDING PLACE. “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.” (Psalm 32:7)
You can be comforted during your tough time knowing that God will use what you are going through for good, and that God will be your possible in the midst of what can sometimes feel so impossible.
Your view of your impossible situation will change if you hold onto the truth that God is the great I AM, and He is your possibility for hope and healing.
Remember, news and truth aren’t always one and the same. So when you receive bad news that is not God’s truth. “Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” (Psalm 25:4-6, NIV)
Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, You are the Great I Am. “God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I am has sent me to you.’” (Exodus 3:14). Everything is possible with You, therefore, as a child of God I will say to my situation, “I’m-Possible” because Jesus told us, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26). You are the way, truth and life, and You are forever faithful. Thank You for being with me always, holding me and being my hiding place. Help me to lean on and put all my weight on your truth when the news I receive feels impossible. Forgive me for the times where I give in to discouragement. Help me to remember that every time the word “impossible” creeps up and starts to steal my hope, I need to proclaim the words “I’m-Possible” and hold on to Jesus because nothing is impossible for You. Help me to remember that my situation may have a word, but Jesus always has the last Word. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
