Our lives are meant to …

 Laura Ingle ·

Key scripture – “But as he who called you is holy, you must also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written ‘You shall be holy for I am holy.'” (1Peter 1:15-16).

Our lives are meant to make God believable to the world. As others see his image in us they should be drawn to worship and “give glory” to Him. Matthew 5:16 says, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven.”

We need to stop and ask ourselves, do my attitudes, words, and behavior give others an accurate picture of Jesus.

Do you profane His holiness by a complaining, criticizing or controlling spirit, by harsh or coarse conversation, by impure thoughts.

We can give others a distorted view of Jesus by our ungodlike choices and responses. Jesus is Holy, therefore, we must be holy. If you are a child of God, the Holy Spirit lives in you. He is not only the standard, but the source of your holiness. He is purifying your unholy heart so that the world will know what God is like.

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Let God reflect His Holy character through you today. Join me in asking Him to give us a disdain, a hatred, for sin and wickedness, and continue to make us holy like He is Holy.

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, forgive me for when I have given others the wrong view of You because of my wrong choices. Make me holy like You are Holy and give me a love for righteousness and a hatred of sin. Give me the wisdom and strength in view of God’s mercy, to offer my body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, this is your true and proper worship. I do not want to conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of my mind. I want to be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.(Romans 12:1-2). Father, give me the wisdom and strength today to die to myself and my desires and take up my cross and live for Jesus so that I am a disciple for Jesus. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
