Out Of Sight For A Time

Luke 23:46

And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

Jesus was on the cross for your sin and for mine. He fulfilled John 3:16 where it says For God So loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son and whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. His life fulfilled Matthew 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

You see Jesus knew all along what he was doing. He knew all along that his death on the cross meant life for me. His death on the cross meant eternal life for me. His short life meant that I’ll live forever. Jesus died at the age of thirty-three. I have discovered that it doesn’t make any difference how long you live, but it’s what you do while you’re living. You can live to be a hundred years old, yet if you’ve done nothing beneficial while you are here, then your living is in vain. However, if you live only ten days, but in those ten days you were with the Lord, you’ve lived a successful life, because only what you do for Christ will last.

He died while he was there on the cross. On Friday he died. On Friday they took him down and put him in the grave. On Friday He died for your sin and for mine. He stayed there all night Friday night and all day and night Saturday. Everybody thought it was all over. The demons were dancing saying, “We got Him.” The enemy said, “He won’t get up.” However, out of sight certainly doesn’t mean out of mind. Out of sight doesn’t mean it’s all over. Sunday morning that old grave started reeling and rocking. Sunday morning the stone rolled away. Sunday morning He got up out of a dusty grave with all power!
