Person Of The Beginning

1 John 1:1

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life.

Man possesses five senses: sense of taste, sense of smell, sense of hearing, sense of sight, and sense of touch. Most of us will not believe in something if we can’t see it, hear it, touch it, taste it, or smell it. If we, then we do not think it is real. However, there are some things that are real that you can’t see at the moment; you can’t just see yet. One of these days you will be able to see things spoken about in the Bible.

That which was from the beginning. This word beginning is also mentioned in Genesis 1:1, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The word beginning denotes the commencement of a certain period of time in an eternal framework. At that time the whole Godhead joined together, because the word for God in Genesis 1:1 is Elohim, denoting a plurality of majesty.

This word beginning is found another time in Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Here again the Godhead is mentioned, but all in a single person. The text says, The beginning of the Gospel of Jesus – that’s his person. Christ – that’s his position. The Son of God – that’s his power. Then again the word beginning is mentioned in John 1:1. In the beginning was the word (logos) and the word was with God (theous). In the Greek this text says, “That which was from the beginning.” In other words, when the beginning first began its beginning. Ephesians 3:9 tell us, And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ. Jesus was already present at creation. He is from the beginning. Revelation 14:7 “worship him that made heaven and earth.”
