Practices, Power And Principles
John 17:4
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
I have glorified thee on earth. Jesus glorified the Father with his
Person. At his baptismal service at River Jordan, the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove descended and lit right over Jesus. God the Father stuck his head out of heavens window and looked down and said, “This is my beloved Son in who I am well pleased.” Merely looking at the person of his son made the Father glorified.
Jesus also glorified the Father with his practice of performing miracles. He went to Jairus’ house to take care of a little dead girl. A woman that had an issue of blood for twelve years pressed her way through the crowd to touch only the hem of Jesus’ garment. Jesus looked at the woman and said, “Your faith has made you whole. When Lazarus had died, Jesus wanted to glorify his father. He walked to the grave and looked up and said Father it’s not for me, but it’s for these folk standing around. And Lazarus got up.
Jesus also made his father glorified by using power. When the disciples were afraid during a storm, Jesus walked out and simply spoke to the wind and the waves and said, “Peace be still.” And there was a great calm. He manifest the power given to Him by the Father.
Jesus kept with principles which glorified the father. When Jesus set out to do something, he always used the principles in the Word. When Jesus had an encounter with Satan in the wilderness, He didn’t have to use the Word. He had enough power to just blow on the devil and send him off to kingdom come. Instead, Jesus said, “It is written.” In other words, He used the same thing that Ray can use when the devil comes after him. You can’t cut the devil, you can’t shoot the devil, and you can’t step on him. He’s got more power than that, but you can use God’s Word to defeat the devil. It is good to glorify the Father.
