Promises Of The Book
Matthew 28:20
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
There’s one other thing I want to mention before I leave this best seller and that is the promise of the book. Yes, the Lord says, “Look, if you follow me, I have some promises that I will give you.” We know that when Lord promises us something, He will never go back on his word. Other people have made promises that they did not keep. I have a card in my pocket that says, “Don’t leave home without me.” But I’ve gone to places where this card could not be used. In fact, it was about the only card that wasn’t accepted. I’ve had family members to say, “Frank if you need me, just call me.” But when I needed them, I got only their answering machine.
I’ve had church members say “You know Reverend I’m with you as long as you’re right.” That’s all right when I’m right, but what am I going to do when I get wrong? You see, you need more help when you’re wrong than you need when you’re right. When you are right, everybody is with you; folk you don’t even know will stand by your side. But when you stumble, oh my, you need somebody to help you get back on your feet.
There are some promises from the Lord to those of us who are His people. Isaiah 40:31 They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. When I’m up, He’s with me; when I’m down, He’s with me. When I am weak, He is with me; when I’m strong, He will be with me. He is not going to leave me. How long will He be with me? Always!
