Salt never loses is flavor until …

Key scripture – Jesus said, “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is not good for anything any longer but to be thrown out and trodden underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a peck measure, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all in the house. So let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral exce…llence and praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5: 13-16).
Did you know that salt never loses is flavor until it is mixed with things like dirt. We are the same way if we let sin remain in our life, we lose our flavor as children of God.
The salt that we should be using to flavor others with is the fruits of the Holy Spirit which are; “love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22-23). As children of God we have these fruits in us, and if we sprinkle this fruit on everyone we come in contact with it will add flavor to their lives and create a thirst in them for what we already have, which is Jesus.
As the light of the world, we are to reflect His light into a world of darkness. We must allow God’s light to be in full display in our lives.
Our responsibility as children of God is two fold: (1) to guard against anything that can separate us from the only source of light, for instance, this happens when we let sin remain in our life and we do not confess and turn away from it; and (2) to let our light so shine that others will see the reality of Christ in us and be drawn to Him and bring glory to the Heavenly Father. Just as stars shine brightly in the night, our lives as Christians should shine like a light in the spiritual darkness of this world.
Ask God today to help you shine brightly with His love and joy and to add flavor to the lives of those around you.
Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, Your Word is salt to my soul and a light in the dark that shows me the way. I want you to use me to flavor other people like salt flavors food. Let my speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that I may know how I ought to answer each person. (Colossians 4:6). Let me be a light that shines and brings glory to You and Your Word. Let the fruits of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control grow in me and pass through me to others so that what I do and say is a blessing to them and they see Jesus in me. Give me the strength to bless and not curse others, let living water spring forth from me not salty polluted water, and let the fruit that I produce be fresh and sweet and not rotten. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
