Genesis 41:38
And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?
Joseph spent thirteen years in what I call the school of hard knocks, perhaps the best school one can go through. He was on his way to prominence but before he got there, God had to prepare him for what he was going to have the privilege of enjoying. So it took him thirteen years to get to this spot, but he finally made it at the age of thirty. Luke 3:27 says that is exactly how old Jesus was when he went out to preach the Gospel. And Jesus too had to go through some things before he made it to his thirteenth birthday. There is nothing wrong with going through some things if it will prepare you for what you will have to face in the future. I have discovered that it just doesn’t happen over night. Isaiah 28:16 says He that believeth shall not make haste. When you believe the Lord, you don’t have to get in a hurry because you know you will come out more than a winner. When you believe the Lord, He knows where you are and what you’re dealing with even at the time you’re dealing with it.
Observe Joseph, the man being selected. Genesis 41:39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art. The word discreet means one that knows how to keep a secret. That may be one of the reasons why God is not telling us much – because we can’t keep it. When we find out anything we just have to tell somebody. And the Lord says some things in life you can’t tell now because if you tell it, people won’t believe it anyway. So Pharaoh is aware that Joseph has been in touch with wisdom. Consider what Pharaoh says about this Joseph’s character. He is saying, “You’ve got something going for you.” Pharaoh said unto his servant, “Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom the spirit of God is?
