Send Back God’s Part

Malachi 3:7

…Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the Lord of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

Return. The word return means repent. You see, unless you repent to God about the wrong you’ve done, you’ll keep on doing it. You might listen to a sermon today and say, “Well I’m convinced today and I think I’ll start right now.” No, you need to do more than just start today; you need to repent for mistreating God. Every time you fail to tithe, you are mistreating and robbing God. God didn’t save you for you to turn around and be his enemy. When you fail to tithe, the Bible says you are a thief.

I don’t want to be called a thief in any kind of a way, especially robbing the One that wakes me every morning. I don’t have a bill anywhere in my house as big as what I pay God. If my house note is $1000 I’m going to give God at least $1100 because I’ve got no income as great as God’s. When all of this other stuff is gone I will have to depend on Him. At the age of twenty when I started paying my tithes, I took some members to eat. There was a 10% gratuity on the bill. I said, “I’m not going to put a waiter on the same level with God.” All the waiter did was bring my food and give me a little extra tea. Now they deserve everything they get because their salaries are very small; they need tips. My point is I couldn’t keep God where I had the waiter.

And so I moved up God to 15%. It wasn’t very long before they start having 15% gratuity so I moved God up to 20%. Now I’m hanging around 25% and I don’t miss it, because when you move God up like that God shovels blessings right back to you on every hand. Isn’t it amazing how some people trust the slot machine? You would stand a better chance of being struck by lighting twice than to win one time big with a slot machine. But with God you’re always a winner; you never lose. He gives me everything I need. How dare me back up on that kind of God.
