Shelter My Soul
Psalm 86:2
Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee.
Lord I need you to preserve my soul. Saints, you see that soul is the real you. Every time Satan comes after you, he comes for the purpose of damning your soul. All the stuff you see on television and read in the newspaper and hear on the telephone is intended to damn your soul. Here is this woman with some rag tied around her head talking about reading your future. And here she with is with the Internal Revenue after her. If a person is that smart, they ought not to be in trouble with the IRS. I don’t need anybody to tell me about my future when I’m living with the one that holds my future. There is no need of telling me about something that you can’t do anything about it.
The God I’m serving is preserving my soul. I heard Him talking one day to His Father. He said, “Father, all you gave me I have kept.” In order for the devil to get to me, he has to go through the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. By the time he goes through the Godhead, that devil will be saved himself. You see the devil can’t get to us, but he’s like a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour. In other words, the devil will make you hurt yourself.
Once I was conducting a revival and I decided to go out and do a little jogging around the hotel where I was staying. While jogging I came upon a huge yard with a huge German Shepherd dog. The dog jumped and started leaping after me and I said like Sanford, “This is the big one. I can’t out run him.” I didn’t know how I could handle a dog that size. But right before the dog made it to the street where I was, a chain came up out of the ground and pulled that big dog back. That’s exactly the way the Lord has the devil. The Lord has a chain on him and the only way the devil can get to me is by me going down in the devil’s yard. But if I stay out of his yard, God will preserve my soul.
