Spending your time wisely?

 Laura Ingle

Key scripture- “And the whole city was gathered together at the door. And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him. And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. And Simon and those who were with him searched for him” (Mark 1:33-36).

Do not let busyness keep you from spending your time wisely?

Busyness is one of the devil’s most effective weapons in attacking your life. We all need to be careful and not ignore this principle even when we are busy with good things.

If you want to get a true picture of how you are spending your time use the same test that you use to get an accurate picture of where your money is going, that is where you write down every cent you spend and how you spent it for a month. When you do that you know what a shock it is to see how you are spending your money, and you will experience the same shock when you see how you are spending your time.

God’s message to you today from Jesus’ own life is a warning. Do not let your busyness, even with good things, keep you from spending time with God each day. Start even your busiest day, especially your busiest most demanding day, with God and in prayer, as Jesus did. You can do this by getting up fifteen (15) minutes earlier each morning and spending time with God and in His Word. Time with God is the only way to get your life back on track with God’s perspective and His purpose for your life.

Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, it is truly amazing to me that the Lord God Almighty, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, the great I AM, wants to spend time with me and that You listen to my prayers with such love and compassion. Nothing and no one is more important to me than You. I want to know You Lord, and I know that the only way that I will get to know You better is to spend time with You and in Your Word. I want to follow You, obey You, do what is right, seek justice, and be upright and blameless. Father, I pray that that my love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that I will be able to discern what is best, and I will be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God. (Phillipians 1:9-11). Teach me how to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
