Talk About Promises Kept
Romans 1:2-3
(Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh.
According to the flesh. God lets us know about the humanity of Christ. Some say that Jesus was just the figment of a person’s imagination, but Jesus was human. He had a natural birth and grew up as a natural child. Jesus lived like a natural person because he was human; he was of the seed of David. That which was far off became near. That which you could not see, you became able to see.
For the first time in a little town of Bethlehem you were able to look down and see heaven. Every other time, people looked up when they wanted to see heaven. You see we misunderstand heaven. Heaven is not just a place; it’s a person. I mean, the devil was up there and lost his spot. Wherever Jesus is, that’s heaven. My security is not in a place; it’s in a person.
Prior to Jesus arriving, God had already promised that the gospel was coming. When God makes a promise, He keeps his promise. Now we might make promises with the intention of keeping them, but circumstances can change. Sometimes you can never get done the stuff you have all the intentions of doing. But when God says something, you can look forward to it He’s able to bring it to pass.
We need to gossip the gospel. If you like to gossip, just gossip the gospel. If you need to find something to talk about, talk about the fact that Jesus was born in another man’s stable, ate from another man’s table, preached from another man’s boat, rode another man’s ass coat, suffered for another man’s sin, died in another man’s place, was buried in another man’s grave, and rose on the third day for another mans sanctification. You can gossip, but make sure it’s the gospel that you are gossiping.
