Thankful For Your Handicaps

2 Corinthians 12:9

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

If you’ve got God with you, it makes no difference about your thorns, your hindrances, and your handicaps. God can take any body and do what he wants to do. If you have some excuses today, this text is going to erase all those excuses. His grace—it is sufficient. What does that mean? It means my problem is not fatal. Whatever we have, it didn’t take us out of here; I’m still here. No matter how difficult things are, I’m dealing with it; I’m standing on the ground and the ground is not standing on me. It’s not final; it will not write the final chapter in my life. I’ve still got a tomorrow. But it is fruitful; it brings a person into fellowship with the Son. If you know you can’t get rid of a problem, you can talk to God about. Prayer is required if you’re going to make it through the tests of life.

My grace. The grace is personal. Jesus says, “My grace is sufficient for you.” Whatever you’re going through, the grace can handle it. Then he said, “For my strength is made perfect in weakness.” The power is unlimited. Have you ever wondered how power becomes power? The way you get it is straight from God above. And when his power is released, it works best on weak folk. You see when you’re strong you are trying to use your own strength. When you’re wrestling and trying to survive on your own, God just stands back and allows you to go on and wrestle. But when you stop wrestling with yourself and say, “Lord here I am.” hey, you are just right for God. “I can’t make it by myself; I’ll have to depend totally upon you.” Then God moves in. Most gladly I will glory in my infirmity that the power of Christ might rest upon me. When God’s power rests on you, then you can take pleasure in your infirmity.
