The Best Book
Isaiah 34:16
Seek ye out of the book of the Lord, and read.
The book of the Lord is one that has been ambushes in many places including college desks and church pulpits. Snipers from foreign soils have tried to destroy this book. Archaeologists and physicists have tried to invalidate it. But this best seller has been around to eulogize the funerals of those that oppose this book. It is an unusual piece of art. It is so amazing that every time you apply it, lives are changed. There are 66 books wrapped up in one book, 39 books in the Old Testament, 5 books of law, 12 books of history, 5 poetical books, 5 major prophets, and 12 minor prophets. The New Testament consists of 27 books, 4 books of gospel, 1 book of history, 1 book of prophecy and 21 epistles.
This book is called the Best Book. Behind ten thousand events stands God. Compared to other books, this book is as far as a river is beyond a reel in reach, as far as an orchid is beyond a twig in fruit bearing. It is as far as the sun is above the flashlight in brilliance, as far as eagle wings are beyond sparrow wings in strength. This book is above other books because other books have no life within them. They are just the thoughts of somebody writing a piece of material – a piece of art. But this book is a living book. This book has done so much for so many. It is book stacked in books.
This book contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, and the doom of sinners. But you have to read it to be wise. You must believe to be saved. You are obliged to practice it to be holy. It’s a pilgrims staff; it’s a pilot’s compass. It’s a Christian’s chariot and a soldier’s sword. This book tells you the three stages of man – generation, de-generation, re-generation. You see the world formed us. Sin deformed us. Prison reformed us. Schools inform us, but only Christ can transform us.
