The Blessed R’s
Revelation 14:13
…Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
There is a blessed release for the saints, because when you die, you get rid of this old body. On earth, we are like eagles living in a chicken pen. Once we begin to grow and get our wings, we want to fly up and sit on the fence. Then we want to fly a little higher on up to some tree branches. We want out of the pen. Another eagle comes flying by and we want to soar with it. Well that is really what happens to our body and soul. You see there is a restlessness underneath the skin after you get to a certain point in your life, when you want to leave this old caged body. Your soul wants to get out of it and soar to higher heights.
Then there is also a blessed rest. It is impossible to find true rest while you’re here on earth. Even if you have a pillow-top mattress and a downy pillow to lay your head on, true rest will not show up. There’s always something around to disturb your mind, a phone call or a person in the other room. The only place you can find true rest is in Jesus Christ.
I also see a blessed resurrection; this old body is going to get up one day and well have a brand new body. Sometimes diseases will cause you to lose limbs off your body, but when the Lord gives us a glorified body, we will be completely whole.
You shall rest from your labor and their works do follow them. That is a blessed reward. We are working now. The Lord has recorded things other folks forgot about – that time you stopped by and led a brother to the Lord. In that resurrection morning, the Lord will read off every good deed you did for somebody else. When I get home how happy I will be. When I get home, the Savior’s face I’ll see. Bells will be ringing, saints will be singing!
