The Secret Of Success
Revelation 2:10
…be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
It says to be faithful unto death. What does it mean to be faithful unto death? A man one day had some associates that walked up to him and said, “Sir, we’re tired of you talking about this man named Jesus. If you don’t stop talking about him we’re going to banish you from this place. The man said, “You can’t banish me from the Lord because He has promised to be with me always even to the end of the world. Well they went back to talk to their committee and returned because they wanted to stop this man from praising the Lord so much. They said, We’ll take everything you own; you’ll be broke.” The man said, You can’t break me because all of my treasures are laid up in heaven.” The men said, Then we will just bury you. The man said, “I’m not worried about you burying me, because I’m stationed in Christ.” So they realized the man had a conviction they couldn’t change and they left him alone.
The root word of faithful comes from the word conviction. Now you won’t be faithful until you first have a conviction. The three Hebrew boys had a conviction that prohibited them from bowing to the king’s idols. They told the king, “If God delivers us from the fiery furnace, we’ll be faithful. But if God doesn’t deliver us, we’ll still be faithful.”
So whatever you’re in, be faithful to the Lord. If you are singing in the choir and it’s growing, be faithful. But if it’s struggling along with only two or three members, continue to be faithful. If you are building a Sunday school class, be faithful whether you have five students or only one. When worship time comes, be faithful whether you are feeling jolly or whether you have pains all over your body. The faithfulness of the people determines the success of the church. Be faithful unto death and receive a crown of life.
