The Unseen Revealed
1 John 1:2
For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and hear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the father, and was manifested unto us;
For the life was manifested. The word manifested is phaneroo, which means make it known that which was already here. In other words Jesus didn’t just show up; he was already here. We just didn’t know it. Jewish people had a belief that God spent his time in spots and places. They believed God was a local God; whenever God would show up, He was always in certain spots and particular places. When Daniel got on his knees and prayed, he raised the window in the direction of Jerusalem. Then he prayed to the God of Jerusalem hoping that the wind would blow his voice into Jerusalem and God would hear it and respond. When Moses got ready to talk to God, he went up on the mountain because Jewish people believed God spent his time in spots and places. Jacob had wrestled with an angel all night in a particular place, a little place called Bethel Then he had a dream that the angels were descending and ascending. When he woke up the next morning he said, “The Lord has been in this place.” In other words it was a shock to him to discover that God would come to the valley.
There are some movements now that think that God only shows up at your little place of domicile. But you cannot hem God into one little place. God is too big for your building. Somebody tried to make a bed for God and wanted him to lie down at his house, but he discovered the bed was too narrow and the cover was too short, because God is from everlasting all the way to everlasting. He isn’t someone you can turn on and off when you get ready.
Then He was manifested. He was made visible So that we could see him. Jesus was not a counterfeit made up by man, but He was God manifest in the flesh.
