There are angels that have been sent
Laura Ingle Key scripture – “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation” (Hebrews 1:14)?
Did you know that if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior there are angels that have been sent by God to serve you?
The word “angel” comes from the Greek word “aggelos” which means, “messenger.” The matching Hebrew word, “mal’ak” has the same meaning.
Pastor Charles Swindol told this beautiful story that really gives us an idea of what angels do for us.
“Many years ago one of my mentors told me a story I have never forgotten. A missionary was home on furlough, traveling by car from church to church. Late one rainy evening, facing a long and lonely all-night journey, he asked the Lord to help him stay awake and make it safely to the next place he would minister.
A few minutes later he came upon a man off to the side, thumbing a ride. Although he rarely picked up hitchhikers, he felt sorry for the man out in the rain and offered him a lift. As the two of them began to visit, the missionary was thrilled to discover that the stranger was a believer and that they also had many mutual friends engaged in the Lord’s work.
Time passed rapidly as the two of them laughed and shared stories. The fellowship was so rich that the missionary hated to see the early light of dawn and hear his new-found friend say, “Well, here’s where I get off.” Before saying good-bye, the missionary invited him to have a cup of coffee at a roadside cafe. As they parted, they promised to pray for each other.
The rain had stopped by now, and a bright sun-drenched sky warmed the missionary’s soul. Then, a couple of minutes down the road, he realized that he had failed to get the man’s address and phone number, so he quickly returned to the cafe. There was no sign of the man. When he asked the cook if he’d seen which way the other fella had gone, he was shocked to hear him respond, “What other fella? You came in here alone . . . I wondered why you ordered two cups of coffee.”
The missionary glanced at the table where the two had sat and noticed that the other cup was still full to the brim . . . and the coffee was cold.
As he returned to his car, another surprising realization came to his mind. He remembered that when he had picked up the hitchhiker in the rain the night before, the man had gotten in the car but he wasn’t wet!”
The Bible tells us in Hebrews, “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” (Hebrews 13:2).
If The Lord is your refuge and your dwelling place, then He has given His angels charge over you, to guard you in all your ways, just like He did for the missionary.”If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent.” (Psalm 91:9-13).
Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, thank You for Your deliverance, salvation, and all the protection that You provide for me. Thank You for loving me enough to send Your angels to serve and guard me and to be a ministering sprit to me. Your Word tells us that angels are constantly ascending and descending between Heaven and earth. In Genesis 28:12 it tells us what Jacob saw in his dream, “He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.” And in John 1:51, Jesus also talked about the angels of God ascending and descending. Thank You for the hedge of angels that surrounds me and protects me. I know and believe, because Your Word tells me, that evil cannot get close to me and harm cannot get through the door because You have ordered Your angles to guard me wherever I go, to catch me if I stumble, and keep me from falling. In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
