Transferred By Trust

Hebrews 11:5

By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him.

By faith Enoch was translated and did not experience death. The word translated means transfer. In other words, Enoch actually received a transfer. It’s like a person in the Armed Forces getting transferred from one country to the other. Others in the Bible were transferred by death, but Enoch was transferred by faith. Faith is the substance; faith is the conviction. It is the evidence or the assurance of things hoped for. In other words faith is not just an act of the mind. Faith is an actuality; it positively exists. It’s not something you just scheme up and hope that it is going to happen. The Hebrew writer says, “It is the assurance.” God will furnish you the faith for what you want.”

Your faith cannot be in you. It cannot be in the stuff you’ve got because that’s just simple faith. All of us have that kind of faith. When you lay down last night, you used simple faith. You just jumped in the bed without checking to see if the slats would hold you up. But we re speaking of extraordinary faith, faith that attains extraordinary things, faith that supersedes ordinary.

It is amazing how we can have it one moment and not the next. We have enough faith to take a 10 cent job and get a $30, 000 car. We have 20 cent faith and get a hundred thousand dollar house. But as soon as sickness comes on us, we re ready to walk with our heads down and say “I don’t know if God can bring me through this.” You have seen God work through faith all of your life and now suddenly here you are wondering if God can handle this little situation. But you got to have faith in him. Faith in you might fail because it’s on the wrong object. Faith in your job might let you down; faith in your family might disappoint. Your faith should be focused on Jesus. The Lord receives joy from knowing that you trust him.
