We Are Gifts

John 17:2

As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

To as many as thou has given him. In other words, I am a gift to Jesus. You are a gift. You are a gift that God gave his son. God cruises around and picks whom he pleases and gives them to his son. Take this one and that one. Ephesians 1:4 says, “According as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world.” We have been chosen by God. If you’re saved, you have been chosen by God. It’s a privilege to be chosen by God. When God selects you for any reason that’s a blessing. Through the years, I have watched how God works. When God gets ready to do some great work with somebody, He knows how to work on that person.

Maybe you’ve made up your mind you’re not going to be saved, but you’re going to be a devil the rest of your life. Then the Lord will let a saint move next door and you’ll be peeping out your window while they are getting ready to go to church. You’ll start being curious why they get up every Sunday morning and go to church. What’s so important? Every time you talk to them, nothing but words of joy and love flow from their lips and you will begin saying to yourself, “If I could just be like that person.” God has a way of getting next to you and before you know it, you will be sitting up in church without aiming to be there. God knows how to deposit eternal life down in your own soul.

Eternal life is knowing the father. Paul said in Philippians 3:10 Oh that I might know him. Saints you need to get to know Him. You will never know everything there is about Him. God will give you only nuggets because if we knew everything about Him, our little puny minds could not comprehend it. But everyday of our lives, we must try to get to know him. I want to know the One who can put one foot on time and put the other foot on eternity.
