When you go through a trial of adversity
Laura Ingle ·Key scripture – “I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.” (Isaiah 45:3).
When God takes you to a new depth of soul experience be alert to new truths and new perspectives. During these times God often leads us to amazing new discoveries. It can be a storehouse of unexpected riches for the soul.
Bible teacher F. B. Meyer once observed, “Whenever you get into a… prison of circumstances, be on watch. Prisons are rare places for seeing things. It was in prison that Bunyan saw his wondrous allegory and Paul met The Lord and John looked through heaven’s open door and Joseph saw God’s mercy. God has no chance to show His mercy to some of us except when we are in some distressing sorrow. The night is the time to see the stars.”
You must live each day to the fullest. You can’t live in the past or in the future. You must live in the moment that God gives you right now. Your time of deliverance from your adversity will come according to God’s schedule. “Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.” (Psalm 27: 14).
Meanwhile, you need to be faithful in doing what God has given you to do and be content in the place where He has placed us. Don’t complain, murmur, gripe, or become bitter.
When you go through a trial of adversity, you need to understand that God is performing radical surgery on your life. The purpose of this surgery is not to destroy you, but to give you a new heart. God is making a fundamental change in who you are and who you will be and He will always reveal treasures from these secret places if you are willing to walk through the process patiently. “But forget all that- it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness.” (Isaiah 43:18).
Pray this – Our Precious Heavenly Father, during the trials in my life help me to remember that I have nothing to fear because, “God is with me,” “God is in control.” You are sovereign, You never over promise and You never under deliver. As I go through the trials, I will not doubt because, all of Your promises are true, they will always come to pass, I believe all of them, and You will never forsake or abandon me. I don’t know when the trial will end or how it will end, but You do and I trust You. I know that everything will work out for my good and Your glory. I will, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV). I know that the radical surgery that You are doing on my heart, as a result of this adversity, is for my good and Your glory. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.
